Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software. Arduino boards are able to read an input - light on a sensor, a finger on a button, or a Twitter message - and turn it into an output - activating a motor, turning on an LED, publishing something online. You can tell your board what to do by sending a set of instructions to the microcontroller on the board. To do so you use the Arduino programming language (based on Wiring), and the Arduino Software (IDE), based on Processing. This kit walks you through the basics of using the Arduino microcontroller in a hands-on way, as you build several creative projects. Included are a selection of the most common and useful electronic components and a manual of 15 projects. Starting with the basics of electronics, and moving to to more complex projects, the kit will show you how to control the physical world with sensors and actuators.
System requirements: USB port, Windows XP or better, Mac OS x 10.5 or better, Linux.
